School is not in session today because of Indigenous Peoples Day so I decided I would take my new wheels on a day trip with Sophie. I was considering Rennes which is a cool city about an hour from here that I have yet to explore. I’ve been to the train station and IKEA but that hardly counts.
I decided that since Sophie was coming, she would more probably enjoy a run on the beach so even though I’ve been there. many times, I am returning to St. Malo. My plan is to park far down on the boardwalk away from the walled city. This will give us the occasion to really walk the beach and look for treasures. My theory is that after a hard run at the beach, Sophie will be my “purse” dog and join me in window shopping and relax at my feet as I have lunch at a cafe.
This may be a bit optimistic but why not? We could both use the grounding experience of getting our feet wet, smelling the sea, and feeling just a little bit closer to home. I will work Tuesday through Friday this week and honestly I’m anxious to get back into the routine.
I find that the more structure I impose on myself, the better I do here. It’s those long Saturday and Sunday afternoons where I get a bit lonesome and weepy.
Off to my tiny rental Fiat which has captured my heart!
