Last night after a long day at work, Sophie and I drove to pick up Lily at the train station in Le Mans. It was a bit stressful getting there as the fog persists and it takes about and hour and a quarter to get there. I navigated my way to the station, checked on Lily’s train arrival time, and we waited.
And we waited a bit more. Lily’s train was delayed so our 9:30 pm pick up turned into a 10 pm pick up. Sophie was ecstatic to be out and about in the night. Imagine her enthusiasm for the smells of a city and discarded food in the train station. She found herself some chips and a small piece of pastry. Despite my efforts to get her to tinkle outside, she chose to pee on a post in the station (she wasn’t the first one).
Sophie’s excitement was replaced by worry as I think she thought that perhaps I was taking her on another train-plane-fiasco journey. At one point she stood at my legs and would only be satisfied if I picked her up and held her like a baby over my shoulder. Some hoodlum had the audacity to walk past her and bark at her which commenced a back and forth barking dialogue. The young man laughed and I kind of wanted to kick him in the shin.
Lily finally arrived, and we journeyed back to St. Denis. Once home, we brushed our teeth and climbed into bed. Lucky for me, Lily chose to sleep in with Sophie and I so were three girls in a bed. I was too excited to sleep long, so I woke, pattered downstairs and started a fire in the kitchen which Sophie and I enjoyed while our Lily slept.
