And Then Thursday the Big Day

So on Thursday, Anne and I woke up with renewed energy and positivity. We were gong to find something to wear to this concert. And come hell or high water, it was going to be sparkly. We were out of the hotel by 9:30 and headed to C&A which is a department store in Montparnasse where the “Parisian’s shop”. That was a metro ride and a short walk away. We noticed at La Gare Lezare (near our hotel) there was a mall so we determined if we were unsuccessful than we would buy black outfits there and wear a red lip and sparkly makeup jewelry.

C&A was a miss– just a bit too casual, but Anne had an epiphany that on an earlier trip to Paris she had stayed at a hotel near La Halles which also had a mall. We took a short metro ride there and began to find the things we want. We put things on hold, we looked and we looked. Finally, we settled on a white sequined dress for Anne and a sparkly sequined tank top for me. Fun Fact: My sparkly top was only 7 euro but smelled quite strongly of someone else’s body odor. Never mind that. It was hot and we sure sweat while we were trying things on too.

We had a nice lunch outside where we split a chicken sandwich and another chévre salad. Then we went in search of accessories, self tanner for Anne’s legs, and made a quick return to the hotel to shower and change. We ended up taking a very cheap Uber to the Arena La Defense (where the concert was). As soon as we got out of the car, we were blinded by a sea of people wearing sparkly outfits. Apparently part of the reason we couldn’t easily find any were that they were already purchased.

We stood in line very briefly and then made our way into the arena where we found our seats. They were amazing. We then went out and got a snack as we knew the concert would run late and we would need to eat. So many giddy people filled the stadium. Never in my life have I seen a show like this. Amazing effects, beautifully choreographed dances and Taylor singing her heart out for a sold out crowd for 3 and 1/2 hours. It was a blessing to be there!
