And We Begin Again

About to Take Flight

I am sitting at Logan waiting to board my flight to Paris where I will reunite with my college roommate. She is joining me on a lightning-fast trip to France where I will look for a new home in the French countryside and attempt to get it under contract. My sights are set on Normandy and Brittany as the climate there is the most familiar and closest to Cornwall which I had long thought would be the next place I called home. France has become the choice for a variety of reasons. Firstly, the visa laws afford more options for relocation than I was able to find in the U.K. Secondly, I have loved my prior visits to the country where I found I enjoyed equally the culture, the food, and the wine. I love the winding roads, riding bicycles instead of driving, the ancient history, the sight of a pasture full of cows, the warmth of the people, the smell of croissants, the vegetation, the language, and all the bread in its many forms. I love being in Europe and knowing I will have access to a quick weekend trip to Italy, Spain or Greece. Also, it’s important to note that my sweet daughter Lily is readying to leave the nest and conveniently has chosen the University of Exeter in the U.K. which is just a channel crossing from my current target.

So I head to France with several realtor appointments, bank connections, and currency transfer companies waiting in the wings. I am done dreaming and now I am attempting to live it. I have the support of my wonderful husband and three amazing children. It has taken nearly 50 years, but at last, I am truly following my heart and realizing my dreams. Please feel free to join me on this ride. I will attempt to post content that is honest, funny, and hopefully a little bit inspiring. At the very least it will be my truth and I hope I can find grace in this process.
